“…in the desire for enhancing interpersonal prestige…[people] strive to perceive positively associated things as similar to each other; as sharing common attributes…regardless [of the reality]…” (J.Tedeschi)
Ahh. This is a big one. Pastor’s prestige, persona, and popularity. Pastor Scott thrives on it. And without it, he is sad/mad/bad. Time for impression management. The art of using any positively perceived person/place/thing to provide for himself – the elusive, elixir of admiring, fawning sheep. How to do this [picture sweaty wringing hands]? So easy, this is. What/who do the sheepses like? Answer:
- Pastor Tony Wozniak – simpleton who refuses to see the handwriting on the wall. But he has a fairly intact reputation. Verrrry useful.
- Car shows, sports camps, wife working at local gym to promote her clean, rich, athletic image. And lure in more just like her, yes?
- The motorcycle [mobster/pastor] motorcade trips to the rich highlands of Winchester. Where we are diligently looking to plant another church.
- Ahh, the naive youth we have lured in with our razzle-dazzle lifestyle. Pastor loves the high life. And so do the young people. Tahoe, Disney, golf, Caribbean islands, cruises, hot cars, big diamonds. But its our sweet kids who attract the most positive response. How darling. Did you see them marching in that parade last year? Ahhhh.
Do you want to know how many of the kids have had a family member or two ripped right out of their hearts? And lives? Becaussssssse? Pastor was being threatened? By their honesty to confront him for his wrong-doing? Calvary Temple-land is an illusion, supported by lies. When will you understand?
But God says, “I have hated them that regard lying vanities: but I trust in the Lord” (Psalm 31:6). “Thus saith the Lord, What iniquity have your fathers found in me, that they are gone far from me, and have walked after vanity, and are become vain…the priests said not, Where is the Lord? and they that handle the law knew me not: the pastors also transgressed against me, and the prophets prophesied by Baal, and walked after things that do not profit” (Jeremiah 2:5,8). “Which when the apostles, Barnabas and Paul, heard of, they rent their clothes, and ran in among the people, crying out, And saying, Sirs, why do ye these things? We also are men of like passions with you, and preach unto you that ye should turn from these vanities unto the living God, which made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all things that are therein” (Act 14:14-15).
