Hall of Mirrors

“In normal circumstances, people who turn their backs on reality are soon set straight by the mockery and criticism of those around them, which makes them aware they have lost credibility. [Insert- In Calvary Temple]…there are no such correctives, especially for those who belong to the upper stratum. On the contrary, every self-deception is multiplied as in a hall of distorting mirrors, becoming a repeatedly confirmed picture of a fantastical dream world which no longer bears any relationship to [reality]. In those mirrors I could see nothing but my own face reproduced many times over” (Albert Speer)

Calvary Temple is the ultimate hall of mirrors. We try to reflect pastor to himself on every level. We are to want what he wants: great cars, pretty girls, slavish obedience, big rings, lots of money, dark glasses, strutting posture, superior religiosity, fear and admiration, power, well-spoken, best dressed hypocrites of all time. The Word of God is the only truthful mirror we can rely on. Pastor’s fluctuating image is unstable, and certainly not one we should be reflecting. Right boys? Hey, but maybe we cannot help ourselves. I mean, as Pastor loves to tell us, “boys will be boys.”

But God says, “For he flattereth himself in his own eyes, until his iniquity be found to be hateful” (Psalm 36:2) “He feedeth on ashes: a deceived heart hath turned him aside, that he cannot deliver his soul, nor say, Is there not a lie in my right hand” (Isaiah 44:20). “For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself” (Galatians 6:3). “But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves” (James 1:22). “Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked” (Revelation 3:17).

"Son of man, I have appointed you as a watchman for Israel. Whenever you receive a message from me, warn people immediately. If I warn the wicked, saying, ‘You are under the penalty of death,’ but you fail to deliver the warning, they will die in their sins. And I will hold you responsible for their deaths." Ezekiel 3:17-18 NLT
