Scareee! Torn between Gotham and Black Mass, both trailers give chills. Pastor – you are operating in the same spirit. No rules. Bend or break them if there are.
Law unto yourself. Using the foibles/failures of your cronies to shield yourself from view. Your ways of walking in the light mimic the one whom God warns us of – that angel of light (Satan), who comes to deceive. Jesus is the true light and the way and the truth. And His light shines through your darkness, exposing the tactics of treachery you are using to try the hearts and faith of the saints of God.
You are happy when you make God’s people miserable. You are calm when you make them weep. You are pressing into your own destruction as you are planning the downfall of those you should be caring for. But hey, you’re gonna do your thing. Because (sigh), that’s who you are. Bully for you.
But God says, “Oh that I had in the wilderness a lodging place of wayfaring men; that I might leave my people, and go from them! for they be all adulterers, an assembly of treacherous men. And they bend their tongues like their bow for lies: but they are not valiant for the truth upon the earth; for they proceed from evil to evil, and they know not me, saith the Lord. Take ye heed every one of his neighbour, and trust ye not in any brother: for every brother will utterly supplant, and every neighbour will walk with slanders. And they will deceive every one his neighbour, and will not speak the truth: they have taught their tongue to speak lies, and weary themselves to commit iniquity. Thine habitation is in the midst of deceit; through deceit they refuse to know me, saith the Lord. Therefore thus saith the Lord of hosts, Behold, I will melt them, and try them; for how shall I do for the daughter of my people? Their tongue is as an arrow shot out; it speaketh deceit: one speaketh peaceably to his neighbour with his mouth, but in heart he layeth his wait. Shall I not visit them for these things? saith the Lord: shall not my soul be avenged on such a nation as this” (Jeremiah 9:2-9). “Her prophets are light and treacherous persons: her priests have polluted the sanctuary, they have done violence to the law” (Zephaniah 3:4). “I beheld the transgressors, and was grieved; because they kept not thy word” (Psalm 119:158).
So instead of our annual young adult retreat, we are canvassing the local college campuses for new converts. We are denying ourselves, taking up our cross and following Jesus. God and kids need proof of our devotion. Witnessing plus no-show during class equals Holier Christian. (Have you applied that formula to paying your, say… car insurance bills Pastor? And trust God no one comes to slit the tires? You never did tell that story right, btw.)
Mature Christians shake heads at us and pass on by. We keep jumping through hoops. Eventually attracting the attention of the innocent, awed by such extravagance. College kids are easy prey. They are always looking for a cause to live and die for. I have noticed though, Pastor, you don’t seem able to gather in the hard-working grown up type anymore. Despite the catchy song. Adults have probably read the end of the fable, right? It sure wasn’t a happy ending. Kind of like us, ya think?
But God says, “See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men” (1 Thessalonians 5:15). “Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord” (Hebrews 12:14). “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart:and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light” (Matthew 11:28-30).
Calvary Temple, we have become a graveyard of christian credibility. Our inaction (addressing the sins in our midst) a conscious determined choice on the part of Pastor and supported by us. The pantomime of outrage by Pastor at his persecution/humbling is all drama. A sickening substitute for real sorrow (repentance/restoration) to those he has oppressed. Sermon talk-talks to drown out the cries of those he/we have oppressed (wounded/defrauded/slandered) to death. Our tactics of destruction are well documented. Our mute/deaf/blind lives testimony to the power of darkness. Willingly deceived by power/money/pretty people. And God said “My people love to have it so…” Rumor Mill: a toxic church led by malignant ministers.
But God says, “Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty” (2 Corinthians 6:17-18). “Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God. Receive us; we have wronged no man, we have corrupted no man, we have defrauded no man” (2 Corinthians 7: 1-2). “Depart ye, depart ye, go ye out from thence, touch no unclean thing; go ye out of the midst of her; be ye clean, that bear the vessels of the Lord” (Isaiah 52:11). “For the leaders of this people cause them to err; and they that are led of them are destroyed” (Isaiah 9:16).
Getting bombarded with folks’ emails. Cannot handle their mess God. You are the Deliverer. You ask me to Write your Word to a Wizard of Wickedness in Warning of your soon coming judgement. Repent and Live. You said to say:
Why will you die in your sins, O man? Is it too costly to confess/repent openly before my people, Pastor? Are you afraid of their horror and anger at your deceptions? Will you lose it all: money, crowds, honor, wife, family, friends, ministry? But you will lose it all soon anyway. And if you repent – you will gain Me, the King of Glory. If you restore what you have taken away, you will find the peace that eludes you. No more lawyers, no more private detectives, no more calls to the sheriff’s office, attorney general, Tony, for info/help/etc. No more recon to assess the silence of your cronies in and out of our church. No more computer hacking to see who’s into what/where. Just the quiet peace that is from Me. And then, I will walk through the shadow of the valley with you. Your shame will be My shame, and one day, My glory will be yours. And it is much better than women and cars and money Pastor.
But God says, “And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not” (Jonah 3:10). “Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord” (Acts 3:19). “Surely after that I was turned, I repented; and after that I was instructed, I smote upon my thigh: I was ashamed, yea, even confounded, because I did bear the reproach of my youth” (Jeremiah 31:19). “Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance, and begin not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, That God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham” (Luke 3:8).
Gotta know what’s coming down from the pulpit with this one. Clearing throat, “Let me get this straight…”, pastor pastor [sigh], you are between the proverbial rock and a hard place. Your micro-management skills are backfiring. Are you sure you’re not related to Hillary-It-Takes-A-Village? You sure do seem to have the same afflictions as that oh-so-righteous-soul. Government confiscating your computer, IRS investigation, emails, legal wranglings, alleged coverups, boys-will-be-boys behavior, investigations surrounding you and your BFFs. TRY not to sound like you just copped out on a speeding ticket. It is not a healthy selfie, ok? Best to take five-breathe-watch Barney-and learn how NOT to be. Honesty still is the best policy. Might want to share that with your BFFs.
But God says, “We lie down in our shame, and our confusion covereth us: for we have sinned against the Lord our God, we and our fathers, from our youth even unto this day, and have not obeyed the voice of the Lord our God” (Jeremiah 3:25). “Them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear” (1 Timothy 5:20). “And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness” (Ephesians 4:24).
