Of course one must understand that we are groomed to reflect Pastor’s psuedo-intelligent image. He is constantly telling us how biblical we are. Establishing a false sense of security/ease regarding heresy in our pulpit. “We are so well taught in the Word here” (Pastor Scott). Now sit back and enjoy our guidance over you/your family, because only the smart ones obey us. No worries.
Truth to tell, we barely know what the Bible says. Sure we can quote one-liners and parrot isolated verses especially when destroying another life. But we do NOT know the Word of God, and are repeatedly told NOT to engage other Christians in Bible studies. Pew-peons need not try. Only get them into our clutches (sorry, I mean our church). Nothing like the pure sweet water of God’s Word to wash away the cobwebs and filth of wicked deeds, lies, perversity, heresy, destruction of lives. Pastor prefers to feed us a toxic tonic. His secret recipe poisons our hearts/minds/lives, but the final exam will reveal all. God does not grade on the curve Pastor. According to His rule book, you fail. Repent. Restore. So you may pass.
But God says, “Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth take heed lest he fall” (1 Corinthians 10:12). “Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall…understanding is a wellspring of life unto him that hath it: but the instruction of fools is folly” (Proverbs 16:18, 22). “By mercy and truth iniquity is purged: and by the fear of the Lord men depart from evil. When a man’s ways please the Lord, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him” (Proverbs 16:6-7). “All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but the Lord weigheth the spirits” (Proverbs 16:2). “He that refuseth instruction despiseth his own soul: but he that heareth reproof getteth understanding” (Proverbs 15:32). “The tongue of the wise useth knowledge aright: but the mouth of fools poureth out foolishness…a wholesome tongue is a tree of life: but perverseness therein is a breach in the spirit” (Proverbs 15:2, 4).
