Just follow the yellow brick road…do you recall how the Wizard of Oz had people shaking in terror as he bellowed out his messages (smoke and mirrors)? There is some concern lest self-righteous individuals think all those Calvary weirdos get what they deserve. Consider Dorothy and her faithful companions were ignorant of being duped – they revered the great Oz – and so it is in the land of Calvary Temple.
Here we have a group of fifty-somethings who came to Pastor Scott in his heyday. But unlike faithful Toto, they never ventured to pull aside the curtain and see the man behind. Largely loyal and willingly passive, the greatest sin they have is allowing a man to teach their children and young adults secretly to do evil deeds (without asking any questions). How many parents sit in on our youth groups or young adult groups? They have given up the right to parent, unfortunately, to one who is unworthy to be in the same room as children. Blind obedience is a killer.
However, the Cowardly Lion, Straw Man, and Tin Man, finally stood up to the great Oz – it’s just about time that the men and women of Calvary do the same.
“But beware of men: for they will deliver you up to the councils, and they will scourge you in their synagogues; And ye shall be brought before governors and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them and the Gentiles. But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak. And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell” (Matthew 10:17-19; 28).
Commit to faithful men (i.e. survival of the fittest) is our pastor’s motto. In every way, physically, mentally, he wants the best; at least in the school. Now he does not do much with the adults; it would be too obvious if he attacked all of us ugly, weak, unpleasant adults. But the school on the other hand, is full of women and children who are easy to intimidate, manipulate, and terrorize into compliance.
Pastor’s goal is to have a school full of the brightest, most talented, best looking, and obedient kids. This is to lure more parents into thinking our school at Calvary is a mecca for raising Godly kids, but it is a trap designed to build the image of Calvary Temple in the surrounding world.
The Bible talks about what a Christian’s testimony should look like to the world in 2 Corinthians 1:12, which says, “For our boast is this, the testimony of our conscience, that we behaved in the world with simplicity and godly sincerity, not by earthly wisdom but by the grace of God, and supremely so toward you.”
(For other Scripture references refuting this tactic see Hebrews 11:37, 1 Corinthians 3:19-21, 1 Corinthians 1:25-29)
Calvary Temple knows how to get to your family, and one way they do this is through the children. Let’s say, hypothetically of course, that there was a meeting between the pastors and your children to which neither you nor the teachers were invited. This meeting was a lesson with the purpose of instructing your child how to “escape” from you if you ever decided to leave Calvary Temple. They told your kids that the last days were upon them and in those times you may be led astray and try to take them away from Calvary Temple. They used this as a way to establish a “way of escape” and encourage each student to have someone to call and a place to go. So if you ever do decide to leave Calvary Temple make sure to take your children’s phones away; because within a short time of the news spreading of your departure the phones will be blowing up with messages saying how you are leading your family to hell and giving your children a place to run away to. The messages will be very convincing, so much so that you would shudder if you ever saw them. Like the pastors have done to your children, make your own escape plan on the off chance that you do find out just how much and how often you are lied to. Do not give your children an option, immediately take them away from the influence of Calvary Temple and then work on helping them through the transition.
The Bible talks about the person who conducts things in secret and stays far away from the light. John 3:20 says, “For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed.” The pastors at Calvary Temple are clearly working in the dark and keeping things from being exposed to the light. If they were completely open and had the intentions of conducting their business in the light you would have been invited to that meeting, not just your children.
